About
Grown and roasted at origin — here's why
The homepage promise is simple: Gambian cashews, grown and roasted at origin. This page is the reason behind it — a family processing story from Brikama Misira, and a value chain we are building one batch at a time.
Our story
Kairaba Nuts is built on a family cashew-processing story from Brikama Misira, The Gambia. Jawneh & Family Cashew Processing Enterprise began as a family-led operation with a clear purpose: process more Gambian cashews at origin, work with local farmers, create local employment, and keep more value within The Gambia. That purpose still guides the business.
Kairaba Production Limited now carries that ambition forward through a more structured business platform, and Kairaba Nuts is its public-facing product brand — linking Gambian production with retail, wholesale and export buyers in The Gambia, Germany, the UK, wider Europe and future international markets. "Kairaba" is a Mandinka word for peace and goodness; it is the standard we hold ourselves to with farmers, staff and buyers.
Processing at origin
Every cashew journey starts with raw produce. From local sourcing and intake records to processing, grading, roasting and packaging, each stage adds value before the product reaches the buyer.

- Buyer
This matters because value-added processing creates work beyond farming alone. More than 70% of our current workforce are women, reflecting the important role women play in processing, sorting, roasting and packaging — and the same value-added stages create opportunities for young people and practical skills within the local food economy.
Why The Gambia matters
Gambian cashew has a strong commercial story. Sector data has shown The Gambia with good reported outturn and practical nut count for RCN buyers, while local processing helps capture more value before export. For processing buyers, outturn and nut count matter because they help estimate usable kernel recovery and likely kernel size.
Our role is to build on that potential. We want more of the cashew value chain to stay close to the farmers, workers and communities that produce it.
Built for buyers
For buyers, our focus is simple: quality cashew nuts and roasted peanut products, clearer product information, batch-conscious production, and honest documentation. Moisture readings are recorded or available per lot where tested, and selected product samples have been analysed by an accredited German food laboratory — with EU-format nutrition declarations prepared in German and English to support the European retail pathway.
Our goal is not only to sell cashews. It is to help grow a stronger Gambian value chain, one batch at a time.
