Quality & processing

What our standard means

Key quality claims are supported by batch records, moisture readings or product documentation where available. This is how a Kairaba lot is made.

Traceability, batch by batch

Our production runs on a digital batch-tracking system built for our own facility. Each delivery of raw nuts is logged with a serial ID and the supplying farm; each production batch links back to those receipts; each stage is recorded as the batch moves through the line; and finished stock carries its batch reference through to the sale or shipment.

For wholesale and export buyers this means that where batch paperwork is issued, a delivery can be linked back to its production batch record — when it was processed, from which intake, and its recorded grade.

The eight stages

This is the standard production route used for Kairaba cashew batches.

  1. 01

    Receiving

Raw cashew nuts are weighed, inspected and logged with a serial ID (RCN-YYYY-XXXX) tied to the supplying farm.

  2. 02

    Steaming

Nuts are steam-cooked — not oil-bathed — to loosen the shell while protecting kernel colour and flavour.

  3. 03

    Shelling

Shelling and kernel handling are managed through controlled production stages, with hand-checking and grading used to protect quality. Kernels move on as a tracked batch.

  4. 04

    Drying

Kernels are dried to reduce moisture evenly, protecting them against mould and breakage.

  5. 05

    Humidifying

Controlled re-humidifying makes the testa (skin) release cleanly, so peeling does not scratch the kernel.

  6. 06

    Peeling

Kernels are peeled and hand-checked. Scorched, spotted or damaged kernels are removed here.

  7. 07

    Grading

Kernels are sorted against international W-grade counts. Grade, moisture and batch serial are recorded per lot.

  8. 08

    Roasting & packaging

Retail products are roasted in small batches and sealed at the facility; export lots are packed for transit.

Kernel grades we supply

Whole Cashew Kernels are sorted against the international "W" (whole, white) grade scale — the number is the maximum kernel count per pound. Broken Cashew Kernels and Cashew Pieces are graded separately. Availability varies by season; W240 and W320 are our core whole grades.

Grade Kernels / lb Typical use
W180 ≤ 180 Largest whole kernels — premium table grade
W240 220–240 Large whole kernels — most requested export grade
W320 300–320 Standard whole kernels — the world’s workhorse grade
W450 400–450 Smaller whole kernels — great value for roasting
Broken kernels / pieces — Splits, butts and pieces for confectionery, baking and food manufacturing

Kernel moisture target is ≤ 5% where specified, with moisture readings available per lot where tested. Full specification sheets are available per lot on request.

Independent verification

Analysed by an accredited German food laboratory

In December 2025, samples of our roasted cashew nuts and roasted peanuts were analysed by AGROLAB LUFA (Kiel, Germany), a laboratory accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. The reports and EU-format nutrition declarations — prepared in German and English to support our European retail pathway — are available to buyers on request.

Pesticide screening

Multi-residue screening detected no pesticides above the limits of detection or quantification in either sample.

Microbiology

Salmonella: not detected in 25 g, in both the cashew and peanut samples.

Aflatoxins (peanuts)

Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 each below 0.5 µg/kg — below the limit of quantification.

Results relate to the samples tested — they are evidence of analysis, not a certification or approval. Sample lab analysis available for buyer review. Full nutrition values per 100 g are published on the Roasted Cashew Nuts and Maraba Roasted Peanuts product pages.

Food safety & compliance

Processing areas are cleaned on a daily schedule, staff follow hygiene procedures for hand-contact stages, kernel moisture is checked with a dedicated tester and noted per lot, and finished product is stored sealed, off the floor, away from raw intake. Export lots ship with the standard document set: phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, packing list and invoice.

Certification status and compliance documents are available to serious buyers on request — ask us for the current file when you enquire.
